Check your fridge: Costco has recalled a popular pre-made meatloaf meal kit sold in nearly 30 states because it may be contaminated with salmonella.

The meals, which contain meatloaf with mashed Yukon potatoes and glaze, were sold at Costco locations this month, according to a recall notice on the wholesaler’s website.

An ingredient used in the meatloaf may be contaminated with salmonella, the recall notice says.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can contaminate food and make people sick. It is a leading cause of foodborne illness in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Which Costco Meal Kit Is Being Recalled?

Costco’s meatloaf with mashed Yukon potatoes and glaze, sold in 26 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, has been recalled.

The affected meal kits have sell-by dates between March 5 and March 16.

They were sold at stores between March 2 and March 13, according to the recall notice.

Why Did Costco Recall the Meatloaf Meal Kit?

Costco said it pulled the meatloaf meals from shelves because Griffith Foods Inc., an ingredient supplier, announced the recall of an ingredient in the kits.

The ingredient, which was not specified, may be contaminated with salmonella, the notice said.

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that commonly makes people sick if they eat contaminated food. It can cause symptoms like diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, according to the CDC.
